Internship Description:

COPO is seeking a Social Services Intern to assist our case managers with providing social services for families living at or below the poverty line and the elderly. The intern would assist with case management by completing client intakes, entering client information into a database, maintaining case files, and assisting walk-ins seeking services.

Responsibilities include:   

  • Assisting with client intakes
  • Entering client information into a database
  • Assist with maintaining case files
  • Providing customer service to clients face-to-face and over the phone

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a diverse setting
  • A willingness to take initiative and think creatively
  • Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Internet navigation
  • Bilingual preferred but not required

Hours per week: Minimum 150 hours completed within 6-12 weeks.

 

Immigration Services intern

Internship Description:

COPO is seeking an Immigration Services Intern to assist our Immigration Services Coordinator with coordinating monthly legal clinics and weekly U.S. citizenship application assistance workshops. The intern would assist with calling clients to confirm appointments, filling N-400 and I-912 applications for U.S. citizenship and fee waivers, and maintaining client files.

Responsibilities include:   

  • Assist with coordinating legal appointments
  • Assist clients with completing their U.S. Citizenship applications (N-400)
  • Maintaining client files
  • Provide translation/interpreting if possible
  • Other duties as necessary

  • Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Internet navigation

Adult Education Intern

Internship Description:

COPO is seeking an Adult Education Intern to assist our ESOL Program Coordinator with facilitating and conducting outreach for our ESOL Program. The intern would assist with leading small group activities in our Adult ESOL classes, tutoring clients from our adult literacy and U.S. citizenship classes, preparing class materials, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities include:   

  • Tutor adult literacy clients one-on-one
  • Conduct mock interviews with adults preparing for U.S. naturalization
  • Assist with preparing class materials and packets
  • Assist with student registration and outreach
  • Assist with preparing for quarterly audit

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a diverse setting
  • Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to take initiative and think creatively
  • Bilingual in Urdu or Bangla preferred but not required

Hours per week: Minimum 150 hours completed within 6-12 weeks.

 

Community Outreach Intern

Internship Description:

COPO is seeking a Community Outreach Intern to assist our Operations Team with facilitating and conducting outreach for our programs and services. The intern would assist with coordinating events, preparing outreach materials, distributing flyers and information packets, and referring community members to our programs and services.

  • Referring community members to our programs and services
  • Other duties as necessary

Internship Description:

COPO is seeking an Accounting and Bookkeeping Intern to aid our Executive Assistant with our organization’s financial operations. The intern would assist with data entry, filing and managing receipts, and assisting with budgets and reimbursements.

Responsibilities include:   

  • Entering information into a database
  • Filing and managing receipts
  • Assisting with Reimbursements
  • Assisting with Budgets
  • Other duties as necessary

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Punctual and disciplined
  • Experience with MS Excel preferred; can be trained
  • Good math skills

Hours per week: Minimum 150 hours completed within 6-12 weeks.

 

Letters of recommendation provided upon successful completion of the internship. All internships are unpaid.
